ABOUT THE TOUR

Sapphire cave is looking good and we will offer a few trips in early April.

​

Each season we always choose to visit the most beautiful ice cave Vatnajökull has to offer. Our aim is to avoid the crowds by timing the departure accordingly and first and foremost, only offer an extra small group experience, with maximum 6 persons on each tour.​ 

​

Our half-day tour begins with a 4x4 ride in our modified Toyota Land Cruiser, heading towards one of Vatnajökull´s glacial outlets. From there, we begin our hike across the valley towards the glacier. The hike offers unique views of the mountains surrounding the glacier, building excitement and anticipation as we get closer to the edge of the ice

We always take our time exploring the cave, we are not in a hurry.

COMING IN OCTOBER 2024? 

October is the very start of the ice cave season. It is hard to know exactly where the best caves will be as we have different glaciers to choose from. Therefore bookings will remain closed until we know more about the cave situation. We invite you to join our waiting list and as soon as we know the location of the best caves we will email everyone with the option to book.

If you are looking for a shorter tour (3hrs+) and with easier access, then this is the tour for you.

Easy+ - there is a short hike to reach the ice cave.

BRING

Waterproof layers, warm clothes, hiking boots, snacks & water.

RESTRICTIONS

Minimum age 12, all guests must be in full health, if unsure please email or call us before booking.

The meeting point is in the car park at Jökulsárlón (5 hour+ drive from Reykjavík).
