ABOUT THE TOUR

​​​Each season we always choose to visit the most beautiful ice cave Vatnajökull has to offer. Our aim is to avoid the crowds by timing the departure accordingly and first and foremost, only offer an extra small group experience, with maximum 6 persons on each tour.​

Our half-day tour begins with a 4x4 ride in our modified Toyota Land Cruiser, heading towards one of Vatnajökull´s glacial outlets. From there, we begin our hike across the valley towards the glacier. The hike offers unique views of the mountains surrounding the glacier, building excitement and anticipation as we get closer to the edge of the ice.

We always take our time exploring the cave, we are not in a hurry. We might bring our dog Myrkvi on the tour.

If you are looking for a shorter tour (3hrs+) and with easier access, then this is the tour for you.

DIFFICULTY
Easy+ - there is a short hike to reach the ice cave, usually 20-30 minutes one way.

Waterproof layers, warm clothes, hiking boots, snacks & water.

RESTRICTIONS

Minimum age 10, all guests must be in full health, if unsure please email or call us before booking.

 

LOCATION

The meeting point is in the car park at Jökulsárlón (5 hour+ drive from Reykjavík).
