1. What do I need to bring?
It is important to prepare for the Icelandic weather. Bring a good pair of outdoor hiking boots, with ankle support. A couple layers including a rainproof and windproof jacket, gloves, and a hat. On the full day tour you need to bring food and water.
2. Where do we meet?
We will meet you in the car park at Jökulsárlón. We will be parked close to the cafeteria and our Land Cruiser has our logo on it.
3. What happens if the weather is bad?
If the weather is so bad that it would be unsafe to do the tour, we will cancel. In this case you will receive a full refund or if available a reschedule will be made. In some cases it might be unsafe to hike on the glacier but going to the cave is okay.
4. How do I check if the roads are open?
The best website to check road access is www.road.is. Other useful websites to help you plan your trip are www.en.vedur.is and safetravel.is
5. Do you always go to the same cave?
No, Ice Caves are a natural formation and therefore are always changing. However, we always go to the most beautiful cave that is safe to operate in.
6. Which part of the glacier do you go to?
During the winter months we typically explore the Breiðamerkurjökull outlet glacier
7. Is the cave crowded?
Our tours are always small or private, which allows us to go to places which bigger groups cannot reach. However, as Ice Caves are open to everyone, therefore, at times we might encounter other people during our tours.
8. What if I cannot make it to the tour?
If you are unable to make it to the tour get in contact with us as soon as possible. Email info@headingnorth.is Phone +354 869 0979
